PLAETOS HOUSE RULES

Updated: 8 November, 2020

The Plaetos platform has been designed to help users to have honest and constructive discussions so there are some House Rules to which everyone needs to commit.

My commitment to the House Rules

1. I will be thoughtful of others

Please treat other people on the platform with respect and courtesy, as you would like them to treat you. Comments using inappropriate language, that are abusive towards other users, or which appear to deliberately provoke arguments, will be removed by the host.

2. I won't break the law
Please do not post comments that are defamatory, discriminatory or are otherwise unlawful. Raise issues directly with the host through instant messaging or reporting a comment if you are uncomfortable raising them in an open forum.

3. I won't dominate the conversation
Please remember that there are shy people on the platform who may need to be encouraged to speak up. Everyone's point of view is legitimate, so it's important that people have the chance to air their thoughts fairly and equally.

4. I will respect the confidentiality of private discussions
If you are in a private (invitation-only) forum, the issues discussed are to be kept within the confines of the forum. Talking outside of the forum will affect its value to everyone as a safe place to talk.

5. I will think carefully about my comments before posting them
When you post a comment to a conversation, it will be visible to everyone participating in that conversation. Any information you volunteer in a conversation will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

6. I have read and accept these House Rules, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy Policy .

The following information is included in these House Rules:

The role of the Host: Every Plaetos forum has one or more Hosts whose role it is to help the conversation without themselves taking a position. The Host will make direct contact by private message if someone is not respecting the House Rules and, if necessary, will block comments from repeat offenders. It’s everyone’s job to keep the platform safe and fair, but Hosts have the ultimate say. Hosts are given guidance on how to be neutral in the interests of all participants (and - if relevant - independent of their customer). If you think they are not being neutral, please contact your Host by Private Message from within Plaetos to discuss it.

Reporting comments: All participants have a shared responsibility for ensuring people stick to the House Rules and can report a comment to the Host using the “report” icon. Hosts can edit comments if they are in breach of the rules.

Anonymous conversations: When a conversation is identified as being anonymous, the identity of a participant who comments is not revealed to any other participant, Administrator or Host.

Participants may still be required to register for a Plaetos forum using their names to ensure they are registering as “real people”.

This is a universal requirement for Plaetos participants. Please read our Collection Statement (below) and Privacy Policy for more detail. Clause 3.2 of our Terms of Service explicitly states that customers will only be provided with de-identified information from anonymous conversations, and Plaetos reserves the right to decide what level of de-identification is appropriate to protect participants’ anonymity.
